There are many Pu'er tea hills, and the Pu'er tea from each hill has different performances in terms of taste, aroma and other aspects. Among the many Pu'er tea hills, Naka is considered the most mysterious.
Naka ancient tree tea is the most representative tea in the Mengsong tea area. It is a Lahu village in Damanlu Village Committee, Mengsong Township, Menghai County. Located to the east of Huazhuliangzi Mountain, Naka has an area of 9.69 square kilometers, an altitude of 1,662.00 meters, an average annual temperature of 16.00°C, and an annual precipitation of 1,800.00 mm. It has a good ecological environment and is suitable for growing tea and other crops. There are a total of 107 households with 568 people in the village, and the per capita net income of farmers is 2,919 yuan (December 25, 2010). Naka Village is known for producing ancient tree tea with good quality. There are more than 600 acres of ancient tea gardens in the village, and the tea trees are between 300-500 years old.
Naka is the only small-leaf ancient tea tree in Menghai. The leaves are smaller, like medium and small-leaf teas.
In comparison, the small-leaf Naka variety has fewer ingredients and a lighter taste, but has a higher aroma, delicate tea flow, and high freshness and sweetness.
As early as the Qing Dynasty, Naka tea was famous far and wide, and tribute was paid to "Chexuanwei Mansion" every year. According to historical records, the bamboo tube tea produced in Naka was even designated as tribute tea by the king of Myanmar, which shows the quality and fame of its tea.
