Can drinking tea with sugar help you lose weight?
Obesity is not directly related to eating sugar. The health problems caused by obesity are all caused by excessive calorie intake and lack of exercise.
Andrew Brusco, president and executive director of the Sugar Association, believes that through many large-scale, comprehensive review studies, scientists have found that eating sugar is not the main cause of obesity, nor is it the main cause of other modern lifestyle diseases. Brusco said a teaspoon of sugar has only 15 calories, a far cry from the 76 calories many people think. Brusco also said that in 1972, the annual per capita sugar consumption in the United States was 46.2 kilograms. By 2002, the annual per capita sugar consumption dropped to 28.6 kilograms. If factors such as waste or losses caused by other reasons are included, the annual per capita sugar consumption is now only 20.4 kilograms. In the United States, the number of obese people has been increasing in recent decades, and now about 2/3 of Americans are overweight. This also supports the American Sugar Association's statement that the reduction in sugar consumption has not stopped the trend of American obesity.

As early as 2002, the National Academy of Sciences conducted a three-year study that concluded that there was no clear link between increased sugar intake and a person's body mass index (BMI). A recent study completed by Danish scientists even "rehabilitated" sugar. Dr. Ginterbe of Copenhagen's Bisper Jägen Hospital conducted a study on 5,200 men and found that people who added sugar to tea or coffee had a much lower probability of becoming obese than those who did not add sugar.
Numerous studies have proven that obesity is related to excess calories in the human body, such as overeating, a single diet, a large amount of high-calorie and high-fat food intake, unreasonable meal times, and too little exercise. Scientists believe that fat intake is the main cause of obesity. But some researchers still recommend that sugar intake should be kept within normal limits.
